As you may know, nothing stops you to ship a stapler in one-meter cube box. The risk is that you will pay too much for your shipping.
What is volumetric weight?
Volumetric weight is a calculation used by all carriers based on the dimensions of the parcel. It is calculated as follows:
(Length x width x height) : 5’000 = X (weight in kg)
For example, let’s imagine that you want to ship as many goods in a box whose dimensions are 40 cm (length), 30 cm (width) and 40 cm (height).

This means that, in a 40x30x40 parcel, you are going to optimize the price of your shipping by placing in it until 10 kg of goods. Indeed, between the weight and the volume, the carrier will always make you pay for the highest value.
If your parcel weighs 11 kg, you will go to the upper price range.
